The first song of Kapil Sharma‘s highly anticipated film Firangi is finally out. Oye Firangi captures the true spirit of the film as it shows you how the lead character Manga lands a job in the British police force. It follows his journey from being a simpleton to becoming a British officer’s orderly. Kapil looks adorable in the role of an innocent villager. His funny antics and silly behavior doesn’t fail to leave a smile on our faces. Ishita Dutta also looks convincing as the simple village belle, who steals Manga’s heart. Sunidhi Chauhan’s powerful voice works wonders for the song. If it wouldn’t have been for her, we might never have even paid attention to the audio as the visuals are quite engaging.
Director Rajiev Dhingra has beautifully captured the Punjab of the pre-Independence era in the film. Unlike Kapil’s first film Kis Kis Ko Pyaar Karun (which was directed by Abbas Mustan), this socio-comedy is backed by a strong script and doesn’t only rely on Kapil’s comic timing. The trailer had already pumped our expectations and ‘Oye Firangi’ just added fuel to it.

Firangi revolves around an innocent village lad Manga (played by Kapil Sharma), whose only aim in life is to join the police force. He has a special talent of curing anybody who suffers from a back ache. A powerful British officer Mark Daniels comes to learn about Manga’s unusual talent and calls him to cure his chronic backache. Once he cures it, he gets awarded a job of an orderly in the police force. His dream job earns him the title of a traitor as Mark reveals his true colors. How Manga wins back the trust of his villagers and his lover Sargi (Ishita Dutta), forms the crux of the story.
